The Craft Barn Blue

Hello and thank you for popping by today. I'm sharing my make for this week on The Craft Barn Blog. Our topic is Blue.
I've gone for a textured mixed media piece done in my MDF book. Full details of how I made it is over on the Craft Barn Blog. The Tando Splatters mask and Paperartsy stamp made me think of the puffy dandy lion clocks floating in the air. Just thought I'd share that titbit. Also the new challenge for the year has begun it is the Alpha / Dictionary challenge starting with B and a new letter on Sunday. See post below for my design team inspiration.

August Calendar Page

Here is the calendar page I made for August. It's one of my favourite pages. The prompts were Butterflies and Pink. I've used acrylic paints in the main with stamps from Tim Holtz and PaperArtsy. The butterflies are made using a large Kaisercraft Butterfly stencil and a concoction of paste, glue, paint and cornflour. I ended up with this crackle finish. I enhanced the butterflies with water soluble crayon. The words are from a new stencil from Tando and Andy Skinner and also Crafters Workshop words stencil. This really was playtime making this. Hope you like it and inquirers you to just have a paint.

May Calendar Page

Hello, well I'm playing catch up, here is my May Calendar page for the ongoing challenge at The Craft Barn. The theme given was magenta and flowers. So I've created a really bright page. Using lots of coloured sprays from Dylusions and Decoart Media range and water, Tim Holtz die cuts used all over the background, Paperartsy JOFY stamps for the background and main images stamped coloured and cut out, PaperArtsy Lin Brown stencil and I've pushed through this stencil a mix of Matt gel medium mixed with creative Expressions clear micro beads. Loved this outcome.  I was very happy with the result and definitely a bright summery, flowery display.

Altered Book Journal

Hello Crafty friends, I'm sharing one of my recent makes that I feel proud of. It's an old hardback book altered to make an art journal. Inspired by Finnabair with a twist of Dawn and the bright colours of Summer. The golden shine from the sprays reminds me of the sun reflecting.

You can view the full step by step and tutorial HERE AT THE CRAFT BARN . I've used lots of different things to create it. The main image is a Crafty Individuals stamp called Frida. I've stamped her onto sticky back canvas and painted with acrylics. I have slightly altered the hair from the original image. The base starts with paper pieces, then builds up in layers or grunge paste through diamond stencil, lace, die cuts then embellishments from buttons, ear ring hooks to pieces made from silicone molds and hot glue or paper clay. The colours are mainly from Prima Color Bloom sprays. 

Inside I've made pages ready from multi layers of book pages and backgrounds already made.

Handmade Bliss Anything Goes

Hello Crafty Friends, today is the launch of the brand new monthly challenges at Handmade Bliss.
This month we have a super easy theme, Anything Goes. So do pop over and check it out. See what you could win and how to enter. There's inspiration from the Design Team waiting for you and more ideas each week.

For my project, I've made a wall hanging. It started off as a piece of corrugated cardboard box. It's had layers of gesso, Decoart Crackle Paint and Media Misters to create the background. Then I've applied Grunge Paste through a homemade raindrop stencil. This has then been heat embossed with a mix of powders whilst paste wet and then highlights of more wow platinum sparkle powders added by using versamark ink and a paintbrush to get the powder where I wanted it.
Then the main event. Hand drawn Rainbow and an umbrella with stamped decoration and stamped flowers all coloured with Pro Markers and finished off with twine and sequins.
