The Craft Barn Dictionary

Hello, I'm sharing the altered dictionary pages being shown today on The Craft Barn Blog . It was F and I'd chosen Fish. I've taken a mixed media approach. Using watercolours, Brushos, paint, crackle paint, Decoart Media texture sand paste, gilding wax, yellow and Star Dust Stickles Glitter glue all round. Along with stamping script and dotty circles from PaperArtsy Darcy stamps for the background, it was joined by a fish courtesy of Lindsay Mason Zendoodles Fish stamp set.
My Mr Fish is sending us lots of love to the surface. Lol.
Everything I used plus lots more crafty goodness is available at The Craft Barn Shop Here.
I enjoyed making this. Hope you like it too.

The Craft Barn Love

Hi everyone, at The Craft Barn Blog we had the very apt topic of Loved Up. I'm lucky that my home may be upside down like me but it's filled with Love.
I made a card for my project using one of the new releases from PaperArtsy JOFY. I was going for something a bit grungy and different. Stamping and colouring  my images and words onto book pages. You can see a breakdown of how I made it over on the blog.
Do check out The Craft Barn website for new products and lots and lots more.

The Craft Barn Triplets week

Hello and how's things going? Has it been a good start to the new year or is it work in progress. It's the latter for me. It reminds me of a song from the 90's by D Ream, Things Can Only get Better. Love that song. Anyhow onto business.

We had the topic of Triplets on The Craft Barn Blog . I decided to make a set of three ATC's. It's been ages since I made any. What I also played with was Liquid Pearls. I used them with a brayer to build up layers to make a background with a lovely pearly sheen. You can find the full step by step HERE.
I used Lin Brown's stamps on the background and used her little cool owl for my main image and coloured with Copic Pens.

I'd love to know what you think of the background and what else you can brayer with, other than paint and ink?

The Craft Barn Blue

Hello and thank you for popping by today. I'm sharing my make for this week on The Craft Barn Blog. Our topic is Blue.
I've gone for a textured mixed media piece done in my MDF book. Full details of how I made it is over on the Craft Barn Blog. The Tando Splatters mask and Paperartsy stamp made me think of the puffy dandy lion clocks floating in the air. Just thought I'd share that titbit. Also the new challenge for the year has begun it is the Alpha / Dictionary challenge starting with B and a new letter on Sunday. See post below for my design team inspiration.

The Craft Barn Alpha/Dictionary Challenge

Hello hello, I'm here to share the latest challenge news at The Craft Barn Blog.

We still have the weekly challenges and the new yearly challenge has been launched. It is Alpha / Dictionary Challenge. This was done back in 2013 where I participated as an entrant each fortnight. I thoroughly enjoyed it and used it to try lots of different techniques. My end result of a filled dictionary is still out and myself and the children enjoy looking through it. So do come and join in.
Apologies for my late blogging this.

The first letter is B and the next letter will be announced on Sunday. There will be some added twists along the way.
I've chosen Butterfly for my letter B. I'm doing a straight altered dictionary. To prepare my pages I stick multiple pages together using a glue stick and take out spare pages. I then mask my word and either use gesso or gel medium as a base.
This is the best way (after taking part in 2013) I found to make a sturdy surface and allowing room for some texture and dimension without the book bursting at the binding.  I have used Tim Holtz stamps and my new Inktense Pencils and some white paint dabbed around the sky. These pencils are brilliant to use, vibrant and versatile. The Craft Barn is great for crafty supplies and their SALE is on.

There are different ways to create and make for the challenge as an alternative to an altered dictionary so do check out the blog. See you there.

Birds for The Craft Barn

Happy New Year to you all. I do so hope 2016 brings you all you want it to. I know I'm looking forward. Have you any goals this year? I'm going to practise my drawing skills, I don't have many so it'll be a challenge, that's for sure.

So we have had a topic of Birds on The Craft Barn Blog.

My first post of the year is bright and cheerful. Using PaperArtsy Lin Brown stamps I've created a family of Birds, to depict my little family. I'll be sending this card to family we don't see often to say thank you from us to them. They are so kind remembering the children at every birthday and Christmas. And I thought it's a good way to express thanks with a handmade card.

I've used a mixture of acrylic paints, stamps, inks, my brand new Inktense Pencils, coffee stirrers and ribbon.

So do hop over to the blog. The full rundown of how I made it is there at The Craft Barn Blog . I sincerely enjoyed making this fun card and will definitely be using paints this way again as this was new to me.

September Calendar page

Hi guys, so long since I blogged but I will be getting back to it now, I've had oral surgery and regular dentist visits and it's floored me but I'm getting there. So a look at my September Calendar page for The Craft Barn Blog Monthly Calendar Challenge. There is still time to enter.
To make this page I've used Brushos for the tree top and used Brusho coloured card to die cut Sizzix leaves. I've used an emboss pen and my own mix of embossing powders on the leaves. The tree trunk and background was done using acrylic paints and then stamped over.

Thanks for visiting,

The Craft Barn Calendar Challenge

Hello, a new month also signals the new challenge details for The Craft Barn Calendar Challenge. For July the prompts are Turquoise and Beach Huts. As always there's a prize for the winner and there are also weekly challenges too, so even more chances to win. Do come over and say hello.

For my July Calendar page, I have used lots of different blue distress inks (although can't see on picture) to create a sky along with some fresco artic lake paint and some fluffy clouds cut out of cotton wool pads. The sand is made from torn pieces of sand paper. The images are stamped from PaperArtsy JOFY 16 BEACH HUTS stamp set and coloured with Polychromo Pencils. This was fun to put together. What do you think of this page?
I know I relish travelling to the beach and enjoying the seaside.
Thanks for looking.
