Hi guys, I'm here to share my sample for this month's The Craft Barn Calendar Challenge. It's February and the prompts are Red and Hearts.
My calendar is 12x12 inch each page so I have lots of space to fill. It did start off in a completely different direction of paper roses cut out and paints, but just wasn't happy with it. So on I went. Covering with cream paint to give a new base to work on. I used various paints, mainly Fresco Finish paints in yellows, oranges and pinks. I used a sponge to apply them with. I worked lighter to darker, using less with each layer till I was happy with it.
Next in with the Tando Hearts mask and Fresco paint Vintage Lace. Heavy on the main heart so it would splodge outside the line. Next some background stamping using PaperArtsy Eclectica Darcy stamps. The scripts with grey stazon and flower heads with red stazon. I outlined the stenciled hearts with a black stabilo pencil and a waterbrush. I coloured the flower hearts with red, yellow and white stabilo pencils and a waterbrush. This really made such a difference and created a smile.
The main heart is the same Tando stencil drawn onto thick board and cut out. From there I covered with torn pieces of old book pages and a bit of tinfoil then painted with London Bus Fresco paint. When dry a rubbed it back off the foil. Then lastly edged with silver gilding wax. I painted some more hearts and again edged with silver wax. Glued all these in place. To finish I edged the page with grey stazon and more silver gilding wax. That should about cover it. Ha ha
So do come and join in The Craft Barn Calendar Challenge.

Really gorgeous inky/painty'ness and texture - I love it, right up my street at the moment lol!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the lovely comment on my blog.
You asked me if the Dishwasher salt is different to other salts when used for crafting - the dishwasher salt is much bigger and so creates larger 'blobs', sorry I can't think of anyone name to call it. Where you put the DW salt it absorbs the fluid/ink/paint and because the granules are bigger the effect is bigger too - I just love it and use it whenever I want to create something with lovely texture and blending. Hope I have made enough sense lol! Karen x
Thanks for joining Stamping Sensations with this great entry, good luck.
ReplyDeleteHappy crafting
