Hiya crafty friends. Firstly a reminder about my followers blog candy.
Here's my latest entry into The Craft Barn Alpha Challenge.
I've also made it to fit in with ALBC challenges a little bit shabby and Crafty Little Fairies anything goes
This time we were given the letter L with a twist of adding/using a window somewhere on our design. I put my window in front of the definition
I really wanted to play with lots of texture and combining acrylic paints and Dylusions sprays (pink, Orange, brown) wanting an orange pink colour scheme.
Also having the idea of creating a locket with a lock of hair in. (Poor David, seeing me coming at his head with a pair of scissors.)
So that's what I did. I'll be completely honest my first attempt was good till I got too happy with stamping on my background and started again by painting over it with gesso and white acrylic paint. So I added lots of torn paper then grunge paste randomly onto my pages getting lots of texture and used Wendy Vecchi hearts stencil with thick layers of spackle. Then using paints, sprays applied with palette knife and lots of splatts from my paintbrush (gosh my table was covered) and patterned papers built up my pages.
Locket is made using stamps and chipboard as in pic below and stamping into the triple embossing. Even did this with the little squiggle stamp for the chain, part of a stamp for the hinge and even the locket bale at top. I do like getting creative and playing with fiddly things. Like the little square hearts and hearts cut from pattern paper.
So this is how it finished up. It took hours in the end and having the two kittens wanting to join in made it interesting. Lol
Stamps used are all from Paper Artsy

great textures Dawn - wonderful xx
ReplyDeleteFantastic page. I love all the texture, layers, detail and colours. Of course the world didn't end when you painted over your first attempt and you have created something amazing now. Great word choice and depiction with window included.
ReplyDeleteLoving the colours on this and the texture. Your kittens looks adorable.
