Alpha challenge G

Good afternoon, well it's certainly feeling a nip in the Autumn air today, but it's sunny too. Here's my latest installment in my altered dictionary for The Craft Barn Alpha Challenge. We're on week 19 and our letter is G. I chose Groove, groovy.
Starting with a thin base of gesso. Then using a technique shown by the wonderful and eccentric Dyan Reavley, I took my pen and went for a walk on my page. Next was filling in the shapes with small designs, keeping them simple so easier to colour in. I did this with a mixture of distress markers and polychromo pencils. I had intended on just using the pens but when dry they faded somewhat and I was after a bright clashing look, so in I went with pencils on some areas. Next up was using a Tando Andy Skinner stencil. Placing the cut out piece on the page and sponging black gesso around my Groovy Lady. Outlined with Sharpie white paint pen. Some black gesso painted around the edge. I do like my borders.
Now this was a challenge for me in two ways. First off I have this dislike of covering up lots of background when I've spent ages creating it, so going over the pattern with black paint got me to just do it, albeit not a great deal, but I was working on a smaller scale than what dyan shows. Second was not not having to get it perfect and just going with it and not worrying about colour combinations.
And this bit was a big thing for me and I enjoyed the experience.
As for our little kittens, they are both home and still not right but getting there. They're certainly lively enough and definitely krafty kittens, I need another pair of hands trying to craft and having Oscar and Millie wanting to join in. Oscar is twice the size of Millie and she don't half give him some stick. Lol
Well I'll let you carry on, thank you for looking and please leave a comment, I do appreciate them.
Happy crafting
Luv dawn

  5. Fabulous groove, grovey pages. They are just lovely and bright and fun. Without the black you wouldn't have achieved such a stunning contrast and by letting go you have opened yourself to new creative adventures. I know where you are coming from because I was told if you don't like what you have made, no problem just paint over the top and start again - hard to do the first couple of times but it works. so keep challenging yourself because you will grow. As your above pages demonstrate.
