Hello crafty friends, I'd like to show you a piece that I made for the Creative Expressions dt call and also a gift.
Nearly all the products I used are from Creative Expressions.I worked with um With Love, Thoughtful Sayings stamp sets and Belle wm stamp.
I altered some mount board pieces with my idea of creating texture in layers. First off I made a painty background to kick off the texture from the start. Using Eco Green paints in Lilac, Lake, Lime, I smeared on the colours with my finger, dried it with heat tool then used a brayer to apply Gesso then dried. I did multiple layers til I was happy with how it looked.
Then with Grape Eco Green paint I added lines with palette knife edge then used this to edge the board. I stamped flowers randomly in indigo ink.
Using That Special Touch mask and Artist Spackle in the corner which before removing mask I stamped into again more texture, when dried painted with Grape and highlighted with silver oil pastel.
The two pieces are wired together with beads and glass chips to again add texture. Which I followed through to make the hanging at the top.
My lady is a stamp I've had a long time and still love her. Coloured with polychromo pencils to give a feeling of texture rather than a blended look.
Then I added a strip of green organza threaded with wire to mimic grass.
Flowers stamped coloured and cut out, sentiment stamped onto a spellbinders tag, a wooden butterfly coated in Cosmic Shimmer silver pearl glue and glass micro beads and two crystal pins provide the embellishments.
I thought a lot about how to make this up, wanting to really emphasise texture and different ways to achieve it. I hope you like the finished piece and inspires you to get messy, as you can see from the photo below it certainly was messy and lots of fun to create.
