Craft tools to the rescue

Hello. Well this blog post title is so true to it's words. It started before I'd even woken up properly on Friday morning. (Always happens on a school morning) Samuel came up to me saying Alan had gotten some Lego in his ear. I must've thought I was dreaming and dozed back off, til Samuel came up and said the same again saying Alan had been trying to clean his ears with Lego, so down I came expecting to see a strip of Lego sticking out his ear. Saw Alan who was complaining his ear hurt, saying he only wanted to clean his ears, but couldn't see any Lego sticking out his head. Time to investigate and get my still half asleep eyes into focus.
He'd only gone and got the smallest cone shaped piece of Lego stuck down his ear canal.
And he'd done it the previous night. When I asked how on earth did he sleep just shrugged and replied " slept on the other side"
So thinking about how to get it out without a trip to the hospital, collected some crafting tools. Stood Alan under the kitchen light, and chose my first tool of choice, my long pointed tweezers courtesy of Joanna Sheen. So I went to go in, Alan pulled away, right head lock time. With Alan head locked against my chest, in with the tweezers, and out it came. Phew thank goodness for that. Could breathe again. Lol
Alan continued in a teary melodramatic voice, " oh thanks mum, you're the best mum, I could've damaged my ear for life...etc etc..."
So drama over and it was on with the day.
Looking back it's one of times you shake your head with a wry smile thinking kids, what next..
So to finish I'm sharing a favourite card from one of the shows I prepped for on create and craft. The image is coloured using twinkling H20s and the rest is coloured and stamped using versamagic inks. I used the tiny flower stamps in the pack to create a frame around tgdwgp cutest bear, this enabled me to make a large 8x8 card from just a small stamped image. X that's all from me for now, bye bye and happy crafting
Luv Dawn x x

  2. Love the card but love the story even more lol! I remember in Infants school getting a bead stuck up my nose, our lovely (but fierce?) Welsh techer asked, "What did u do that for?" and I replied (logically) "I wanted to see if it would fit!" Lol!x

  3. thanks for the comments, that one made me laugh deb, Alan loves having his ears cleaned so thought he'd do it himself but why he chose a bit of Lego less than a cm big I don't know. lol asked why didn't tell me last night he thought he'd be in trouble bless, asked his twin why he didn't come get me, said couldn't find me, lol well unless I'd disappeared in a big bubble to the land of oz I don't know why he couldn't lol. what a start to the day, I told David he burst out laughing x

  5. Well done getting the lego out Dawn. I think every child has stuffed something they shouldn't up the nose or in their ear. All part of growing up.
The card is lovely. The image is so sweet and I love the colours. The little stamped flowers work well as an extension of the teddy image x
