Hello, I made this project to fit in with some blog challenge themes. The first being Hels Sheridan's where the prompts are numbers and some stamping. Then I saw another that asked to incorporate ribbon and lace. So they went on it too.
It did drive me daft a bit as I made things to go on it then decided they didn't look right but got there in the end, as you normally do, not that I'm in any way near normal myself.
So how did I do it. Using mount board I used acrylic paints (ECO GREEN CRAFTS) and gesso. I painted the colours on and used a brayer to apply the gesso, each done in seperate layers which you dry each one before applying the next. Then I used molding paste mixed with silver acylic paint and swiped through a stencil and added to the board edges. Some stamping in indigo ink and ink sponged through some lace then some more gesso applied over top to soften the effect. The Tim Holtz quote stamp was stamped on tissue paper and applied with ranger matt medium, and another quote stamped three times and cut into strips and attached next to the numbers.
The flower and numbers were all card painted with acrylics then sizzix build a flower 2 die to cut flower layers, that I cut into two of to make smaller. Behind the flower is some pastel green lace, inked with indigo blue versafine ink and sprayed with cosmic shimmer silver, then a simple running stitch along the bottom edge, pulled to gather the lace into a circle and stitched in place.
The numbers are from www.alysinkyfingers.co.uk and were simply stamped and heat embossed as was the corner accent. The hanger is a length of ribbon finger knitted then attached to back of mount board.
What I would ask anyone is how the heck are you meant to be able to clean GESSO off equipment. I went to clean them straight away and was scrubbing at my brayer and pallett for over an hour. If anyone can offer an easy solution please do. I would be eternally grateful.
I hope you all had a peaceful Easter and have an enjoyable Spring whatever you are doing. Not that the weather can decide. Goodness snow one day, warm sunshine the next, then rain and today hail stone. Thanks for reading this rather long post,
Happy Crafting, luv Dawn
