Clean n simple

I saw the challenge competition on the creative expressions and it called for something clean n simple.
Easy right....not for me ha ha. I don't tend to leave much white space in my designs however I'm finding I'm getting my head round the concept more and whilst I may need to think a bit harder I'm liking the results.
For my card I applied gesso with my fingers to an old book page then when dried I stamped the lady and coloured her is with ordinary plain pencils.
I wanted to include a strip behind my lady and was going to simply adhere a strip of paper I'd coloured with sprays, but when I thought about it some more this would create bumps in my lady when stuck down flat. And come on ladies, be honest, who needs extra lumps and bumps added, personally I've enough of my own. So I went about colouring directly to the base card.
On the base card I masked off some areas and coloured with distress inks, I then used a large creative expressions rose stamp and inking up just the edges of the swirls randomly stamped across the borders I'd made.
I stamped a sentiment from thoughtful sayings set in co ordinating ink. I like makin a feature of my sentiments but to keep in with the theme I simply did this on white card and layered it onto another piece of white with foam tape. This makes it look like the sentiment has a drop shadow around it. I liked this effect.
A few tiny pearls added as the lady is wearing some and there you go, all done.
Thanks for lookin. Have a great weekend and I'll be back soon with details of the new challenge at that craft place x
Happy crafting luv dawn

  2. A very pretty image Dawn, and I like the colours you chose for her. I like how you did the borders too. I understand your nervousness at leaving blank spaces (I think a card is naked if it hasn't got a bow) but you've succeeded in creating a well balanced card that doesn't need anything else. Good luck in the challenge x
