Hi everyone, it's Thursday which means it's time for a new challenge at WILLOW SKETCHIE. This week we have another great sketch to follow and the theme is THINGS WITH WINGS. You may choose to use both or either of these to enter the challenge.
This week I've chosen to follow the theme only and gone for something different. A butterfly tree which Polly is sitting under.
My idea was originally a card, however it grew into this. I wanted a pretty, soft slightly vintage look but fresh which is why I used white instead of cream. Just changing this does make a difference in the overall look of what you're making.
I've used papers from Polly Pickleberry cd Rom and Polly Pickleberry take it easy clear stamp set.
The butterflies are cut using a spellbinders die set. Then I've hand stitched around the edges and attached them to some florists wire which I've wrapped with pink and gold thread with some white lace trailing down and used my favourite thing, Buttons to embellish them.
The curly twigs are decorated with ribbon twine and thread tied in various places. I then attached these to the centre pole wrapped then in ribbon.
This all goes into a wooden spool painted with gesso and acrylic paint sanded between layers for smoothness and decorated with papers that I've stamped onto and topped with recycled and altered middle from a foam tape roll.
Polly is stamped coloured with pencils and cut out and sat on the edge.
